Free Weekly Puzzlers

Students use critical and creative thinking as they learn
science, language and math! Recommended for grades 3-8 (ages 8-13).

How it Works

  1. Sign up for either (or both!) of the two puzzler types below.
  2. Each week you'll receive a new puzzler by email.
  3. Solve the puzzlers in class. Then students can share them with their families!

“It gets students to think beyond the typical textbook questions. The students think it is a fun way to learn. They also bring up topics that might not be taught in the curriculum. I use it as a small group activity that promotes cooperation and collaboration.”

Elementary School Educator

“The questions are often relevant to our curriculum and make good application-type questions for a warm-up, review or to stimulate discussion.”

Middle School Educator

“The students are really excited about the Challenges. They look forward to what might be coming next.”

Elementary School Educator

“The puzzlers are fun, but they are also interesting. I love them because they are short."

Middle School Educator

“It is engaging to the student. They seem to enjoy the illustrations and forget they are doing "work". They also like to go home and stump their parents.”

Elementary School Educator

“I think that it is a great way to break away from our routine and promote additional thinking strategies. Honestly, I love that I don’t have to spend the time researching and pulling information.”

Elementary School Educator

“I like the fact that it leads to good scientific discussion. Many opinions and support for them are offered. Many misconceptions are revealed. The challenges cross all branches of science.”

Elementary School Educator

“It is great for discussion. It makes the children think. The children like to take it home and see if their parents can answer it.”

Elementary School Educator

“The challenges promote high-level thinking. The children have great discussions and at times have to do some research themselves. Many of the challenges tie in with our Sunshine State Standards (Florida). The children like to go home and challenge their parents!”

Elementary School Educator

“I have recommended the Cogno Challenge to my colleagues because it approaches the application of science concepts in a user-friendly manner. The students enjoy the puzzles and are learning from them.”

Middle School Educator

"I am planning on using the Cogno challenges as a daily warm-up. I am thinking of having the theme 'Going Cogno!'"

Elementary School Educator

“Good brain activity, good to get students engaged as they first come into the room. Good topics, stimulates discussion.”

Elementary School Educator

“I love the use of creativity that's required to solve the puzzles. It provides a challenge to my gifted students and really gets their critical thinking juices flowing!”

Elementary School Educator

“It's a puzzle and it's fun…yet it complements existing curriculum.”
